The Blanket Project

December 2018

Every year, the harmattan season occurs in Nigeria between November and March. Marked by extreme cold temperatures and dry-dusty wind, Harmattan in the North-Eastern region comes with many health hazards such as pneumonia, exacerbated asthma, etc.

Children are the most vulnerable during this cold and dry period; especially street kids and children displaced as a result of violent extremist activities.

In partnership with the Positive Women Development Initiative, WAVE has launched the Blanket Project to better equip Internally Displaced children this harmattan.

Through the Blanket Project, this November & December, we aim to raise funds to buy harmattan necessities (petroleum jelly, socks, blankets) for 1000 children across IDP camps in Adamawa & Plateau states.
